Mt Seymour Eco-Adventure Summer Camp Volunteer Program

Why Volunteer with us?

  • A 40 hour (one week of camp) commitment earns volunteers a winter season pass for the 2021/2022 season

Volunteer Qualifications

  • Minimum 14 years of age
  • Commitment to a minimum of 1 camp session (5 consecutive days) is preferred
  • A passion for being outside, in the forest and the mountains
  • Camping experience and outdoor skills an asset
  • Personable, friendly and keen to gain experience working with kids

Volunteer Duties & Expectations

  • Arrive on time
  • Assist Instructors in group management, group safety, skill based activities, facilitating games and providing the participants with the best experience possible.
  • Provide an excellent example for the participants by:
    • Being professional
    • Demonstrating strong leadership characteristics
    • Being dressed and prepared for the day outside in all weather conditions
    • Sharing your love for the outdoors!
  • Maintain a polite and professional attitude while on the mountain
  • To be a leader/mentor to campers. This means helping instructors enforce any rules they have set and acting according to these rules yourself
  • Instructors will let you know what they need help with and when there is an opportunity for you to assist in leading certain activities
  • Model the code of conduct set out on the first day throughout the week; campers will look up to you; displaying positive behaviours is a must
  • Follow all COVID-19 Policies

Camp Schedule and Transport

  • Camp runs weekdays JULY 5TH - SEPT 3RD from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
  • Volunteers are welcome to use the camp shuttle bus 
  • If riding the shuttle bus, volunteers are expected to assist the Shuttle Driver and Shuttle Supervisor with participant supervision and safety
  • Volunteers will be given orientation training their first day on site
