Title: Terrain Park Ranger (Full/Part Time)
Department: Mountain Operations
Reports to: Terrain Park Supervisors & Terrain Park Manager

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Terrain Park Supervisor & Terrain Park Manager, the Terrain Park Ranger is responsible for building and maintaining our terrain parks & features. The Terrain Park Ranger will use safe and effective methods in performing their duties, to ensure a high-quality terrain park setup and safety for the skiers and snowboarders of Mt Seymour. Mt Seymour has a variety of terrain parks/features that must be hand-groomed multiple times per day. Terrain Park Rangers are also responsible for marking hazards, ensuring signage is in place, and testing our features.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • To uphold Mt Seymour’s mandate, “To excite and engage everyone in mountain recreation by providing fun, safe and enriching experiences”.
  • To uphold Mt Seymour’s Core Values: Safety, Fun, Integrity, Accessibility and Environmental Stewardship.
  • To promote a safe and positive atmosphere for all Mt Seymour guests and staff.
  • Report and rectify any unsafe acts.
  • To use shovels, rakes, and other equipment to manually shape and maintain terrain park features to predetermined specifications.
  • Neat and accurate record keeping, including the daily Terrain Park Inspection Log.
  • Ensure signage, fencing, and feature markers are properly set up throughout the day.
  • Install and reset features by hand.
  • To keep the terrain parks and facilities clean of debris and garbage.
  • To ensure guest users abide by the park rules and promote responsible riding.
  • To uphold the Alpine Responsibility Code.
  • Help event staff with set-up, tear-down, feature maintenance, and crowd control.
  • To communicate with guests to keep them informed on projects and encourage their feedback.
  • Other related duties as required.

WHAT WE REQUIRE FROM YOU

  • Strong level skiing and/or snowboarding ability.
  • Terrain Park maintenance experience preferred.
  • A good understanding of terrain parks.
  • A positive and friendly attitude in all winter weather conditions.
  • Able to follow directions and work unsupervised.
  • Available to work early mornings/night shifts.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Seasonal position, December through to mid-April.
  • $18 - $18.75 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Complimentary season pass and shuttle bus pass.
