Dog Mountain via First Lake
Distance: 5 kilometres return, 150 metres elevation change
Time: 2-3 hours return
Difficulty: Moderate, depending on conditions
Things to know:
- Excellent view at the terminus in clear weather
- Trail is an out and back
- The most popular snowshoe trail on the North Shore. Expect crowds on weekends and holidays
- Dog Mountain is within the Metro Vancouver- Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve, not Mt Seymour Provincial Park. It is open year round
- Multiple rescues occur on this trail each year, please come prepared and informed and travel safely
- Dogs are permitted on leash only
- Please be respectful, do not litter, pick up your dog waste, and do not feed the wildlife
- During the ski season, the gate at the bottom of Mt Seymour Rd. opens at 7:00 and closes at 10:00 pm

- You are welcome to use Mt Seymour Snowshoe Rentals on the Dog Mountain Trail. To stay within liability regulations, a trail pass is included with every rentals purchase.
- The trail is backcountry and outside of the controlled recreation area (ski area), therefore Mt Seymour Resort Patrol does not respond to emergencies on this trail.
- If you have your own snowshoes you can use this trail without a trail pass.

First Peak via Mount Seymour Main Trail
Distance: 8 km return - 450 metres elevation gain
Time: 3.5 hours +
Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult
Things to know:
- Excellent view at the top in clear weather
- Trail is an out and back and is marked with poles to First Peak/First Pump. Beyond First Peak, no markings exist and strong backcountry and avalanche preparedness and knowledge is required.
- Expect crowds on weekends and holidays
- Multiple rescues occur on this trail each year, please come prepared and informed and travel safely
- Dogs are permitted on leash
- Please be respectful, do not litter, pick up your dog waste, and do not feed the wildlife
- BC Parks has excellent information on their website
- During the ski season, the gate at the bottom of Mt Seymour Rd. opens at 7:00 and closes at 10:00 pm
