SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Carpenter is a skilled, hands-on position responsible for the construction, repair, and maintenance of all buildings, structures, and facilities at Mt Seymour. This role plays a key part in maintaining safe, functional, and high-quality infrastructure across the resort, while supporting a variety of operational needs in a dynamic mountain environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform all aspects of carpentry work including framing, finishing, repairs, and general construction
- Maintain and repair base area buildings, structures, and facilities to a high standard
- Work with the Building Maintenance Supervisor to plan and complete preventative maintenance projects
- Assist with small-scale renovations and improvement projects across the resort
- Coordinate and support maintenance work in areas such as plumbing, painting, and general building upkeep as required
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with applicable building codes and WorkSafeBC regulations
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and maintenance schedules
- Keep workspaces clean, organized, and safe, with a strong attention to detail and quality
- Work collaboratively with other departments to support overall mountain operations
- Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures
- Other related duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Carpenter certification (Red Seal preferred or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 2-3 years of carpentry experience, ideally in commercial, industrial, or resort environments
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and tools
- Experience with building maintenance and repair considered an asset
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems is an asset
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and mountainous terrain
- Comfortable working at heights and in physically demanding environments
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Full-time, year-round position
- Starting wage: $30–$40/hour (dependent on experience)
- Family Season’s Pass
- Shuttle Bus Pass
- Winter schedule: 5 days out of 7
- Summer schedule: 4 ten-hour shifts (mid-May to October)
