Building Maintenance Technician
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mt Seymour is a winter recreation area located in North Vancouver. We are currently seeking a full time, Buildings Maintenance Technician with plumbing/carpentry experience to join our Operations team.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Buildings Maintenance Technician is a hands-on position, responsible for overseeing and carrying out all aspects of building maintenance including plumbing, carpentry and minor electrical. This position also assists with the operation of Mt Seymour's water and wastewater systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with the Building Maintenance Supervisor to complete work orders in a timely cost-effective manner
- Carrying out maintenance required in all buildings, structures, and facilities in areas such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, heating, and appliances.
- Assist is building projects such as installing new equipment, and renovations and small construction projects through out the resort.
- Assist in the coordination of maintenance requirements in all buildings, structures, and facilities.
- The maintenance and monitoring of domestic water and sewage treatment systems, including the recording and reporting of all required information to meet ECOP and VCH requirements.
- To ensure that all building maintenance work performed is in adherence to all building code and WorkSafe BC regulations.
- Keep a clean, organized, and safe workplace
- To ensure a high standard in all finished work, while remaining cost effective.
- To ensure the adherence of health and safety regulations when performing tasks.
- Other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 2 years of previous experience in providing building maintenance services and/or red seal plumbing trade preferred.
- Knowledge of methods used in heating, electrical, plumbing, and painting.
- Basic mechanical knowledge is required.
- Water operator ticket or experience in domestic water testing an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with managers, supervisors, and co-workers.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Able to work well under pressure in a high-volume environment, and to take direction and work with minimal supervision.
- Willing and able to work in all weather conditions in mountainous terrain.
- To be a supportive team member.
- Able to work flexible shifts to include weekends and evenings during the operating season effective immediately through to mid-April, with the potential to extend to a year-round position.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Full-time, year round position
- Wage range: $26-$34 (non Red Seal), $30-$40 (Red Seal)
- Family Season’s Pass.
- Shuttle Bus Pass.
- Works 5 days out of 7 in the winter operating season, and 4-ten-hour shifts during mid-May to October.
