SKIING ABILITY LEVELS

1. Never Ever - I have never skied before, or if I have, I am not able to stop or turn. This level will start with the basics as if you’ve never skied before. The lesson will start in the learners area on flat and mellow terrain.

2. Can stop - learning to turn - I can stop myself using a snow plough (pizza) and I can change direction (turn) from side to side. I still need my snow plough to slow me down when I am turning. The lesson will start on beginner terrain, such as the learners area or magic carpets.

3. Can link (Snow Plough) turns - I am able to link snow plough (pizza) turns and my skis are parallel (French fries) at the end of my turns. I am using my turns to slow me down, not the size of my plough / pizza. I ski on the chairlift and am able to ski down green trails comfortably. This lessons will be taught predominantly on trails on our chairlifts.

4. Can link parallel turns - My skis are parallel throughout the whole turn, I don’t use a snow plough or pizza. I want to work on taking my skills to steeper trails across the mountain. This lesson will use most terrain across the mountain.

5. Parallel turns - all over the mountain - My skis are parallel on all trails around the mountain. I can control my speed in long and short radius turns. I want to work on refining my skills, off trail and into other terrain. Lesson will use all terrain across the mountain.

SNOWBOARDING ABILITY LEVELS

1. Never Ever - I have never snowboarded before, or if I have, I am not able to balance on one edge. This level will start with the basics as if you’ve never boarded before. The lesson will start in the learner's area on flat and mellow terrain.

2. Can side slip - learning to change direction - I can slide on one or both (heel & toe) edges. I am starting to learn to change direction on one edge (zig-zag / side to side). Changing direction (zig-zag / side to side) means you stay on the same edge – either heel side or toe side while moving across the slope. The lesson will start on beginner terrain, such as the learner's area or magic carpets, with aim of learning how to link full turns.

3. Can turn (one edge to the other) - I am able to turn. This means that I start on one edge (for example, my toes) and finish the turn on my other edge (e.g. heels – or the opposite). I am learning to link these turns more consistently. I ride on the chairlift and am able to ride down green trails comfortably. This lesson will be taught predominantly on trails on our chairlifts.

4. Can link turns with traverse - I can link turns from one edge to the other with ease. This includes being able to traverse across the slope on one edge at the end of my turns. I want to work on developing my turns and move my skills to steeper trails across the mountain. This lesson will use most terrain across the mountain.

5. Dynamic turns - all over the mountain - I can make linked turns on all trails around the mountain. I can control my speed in long and short radius turns. I want to work on refining my skills, off trail and into other terrain. Lesson will use all terrain across the mountain.
