Terms & Conditions for School Ski & Snowboard Lessons (2026-27 season)

Please note that these terms and conditions have been shortened and simplified for families. Your school group’s organizer has been provided with a copy of Mt Seymour’s full terms and conditions.

If you have any questions about your school group’s booking or participation requirements, please contact your school group’s organizer, who coordinates directly with Mt Seymour. Mt Seymour’s Guest Experience department, including the Call Centre, cannot assist with school program bookings or related inquiries.

Your school group may have additional or stricter policies and requirements than those outlined in these terms. For clarification on any policies or requirements specific to your school group, please contact your school group’s organizer.

Acknowledgement Form: An acknowledgement form must be completed by a parent or guardian for each student before the visit. Parents/guardians should review the acknowledgement form with their child.

Payment: Individual payments from parents/guardians are not accepted.

Season Pass Holders: Season pass discounts do not apply to school lesson programs. Please do not carry your season pass with you during your lesson.

Rental Season Pass Holders: Students with both a Season Pass and a Rental Season Pass should select “No” to rentals when completing lesson registration and pay the non-rental rate. Rental Season Pass holders are responsible for reserving their rental equipment for each lesson date and following all Rental Season Pass procedures.

Lesson Groupings & Ability Levels: Mt Seymour's Snow School department will assign students to lesson groups. Mixed-ability lesson groups will stay on terrain suited to the lowest skill level.

Private Lessons & Additional Fees: There will not be an additional charge unless a private lesson (one student with one instructor) is required. Private lessons must be requested by the registration deadline and require advance details to help match a suitable instructor. Private lessons are subject to instructor availability and cost an additional $20 per hour. If a private lesson cannot be arranged, the student will be withdrawn from the program with a full refund. Additional fees may apply for adaptive lessons or accommodations that require specialized equipment or multiple instructors.

Rental Changes: Students who register for lessons with rentals but later no longer require rentals may receive a refund of rental fees, provided the organizer contacts us at least 14 days before the initial visit.

Withdrawals: Once your school group's lesson registration has closed, details are considered final and will be reflected on your group’s invoice. Individual student withdrawals are only eligible for a refund if a student is no longer enrolled at the school or cannot attend the lesson program due to illness or injury, and the organizer notifies us no later than the day before the visit. Reasonable supporting documentation may be required for withdrawal requests. Refunds for eligible withdrawals will be issued to the school after the final visit.

Absences: Students who are absent from a lesson due to illness or injury, and whose absence is first reported by the organizer on the day of the visit or the day after, are not eligible for a refund. However, if the organizer reports the absence and reason for the absence within 7 days of the missed lesson, the student will receive a weekday lift ticket (with equipment rental if it was purchased for the lesson), valid through the current season. Reasonable supporting documentation may be required. Gift codes will be issued to the organizer for distribution. Make-up lessons are not available for any missed lessons.

Level 1 Attendance Requirement: Students in Level 1 who miss both the first and second lessons of a 3- or 4-day lesson program will be withdrawn from the remaining lessons and refunded for any remaining lessons.

Weather: Mt Seymour is an alpine environment where the weather can change quickly. Lessons run in a variety of weather conditions, including rain, snow, and cold temperatures, unless we announce a cancellation. Check our website for weather and operational updates.

Safety: All guests should review the safety and risk awareness section of our website before visiting. All school supervisors and students must abide by the Alpine Responsibility Code. Mt Seymour retains authority over program delivery, route selection, activity pacing, weather-related decisions, emergency response, and safety management. Mt Seymour may modify, suspend or discontinue a student's or supervisor’s participation if, in Mt Seymour's opinion, continued participation presents an unreasonable safety risk to the student, other participants, staff, supervisors, or members of the public. This authority applies even where a supervisor, parent/guardian, or school staff member believes the student can continue participating.

Cancellations & Rescheduling: Mt Seymour may modify or cancel a visit due to weather, road closures, operational requirements, or other factors. If Mt Seymour cancels a visit and rescheduling is not possible, a refund will be issued for the cancelled visit. For programs with multiple visits, refunds will be prorated based on the number of visits cancelled and not rescheduled. If a school closes due to weather, or an official road advisory prevents travel to Mt Seymour on the day of the visit, the school group's organizer must notify Mt Seymour as soon as possible and at least 3 hours before the visit. Mt Seymour will attempt to reschedule the visit and, if unsuccessful, a refund will be issued.

Packing List: Dress for any weather. We recommend winter boots, a waterproof jacket and pants, warm layers, warm socks, winter gloves, goggles, a neck warmer, and a toque. We also recommend bringing a backpack with a water bottle, food, and extra socks. Valuables are best left at home.

Arrival & Visit: Check-in begins one hour before the lesson's start time. For groups attending their initial visit, the entire group must arrive together at the same time. Groups returning for additional visits may allow non-renters to arrive closer to the lesson start time. On returning visits, students may begin getting ready (storing bags, using the washroom, etc.) but must wait for staff approval to enter Rentals. Latecomers may not be permitted to join a lesson once it has begun and must remain under the supervision of a parent/guardian or supervisor. Lessons end as scheduled. Rentals must be returned at the end of the visit. Terrain parks are off-limits to students for the entire visit, including during extra time.

Bag Storage: Only renters’ shoes may be stored inside the Rentals building. Bags and non-renters’ shoes can be stored in the shared trailer outside Rentals in the P4 lot. Items are left at the owner's risk, and Mt Seymour is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Meal Program: The meal program is subject to availability and must be booked in advance. Meal orders become non-refundable and non-changeable once submitted, except where a withdrawing student is reported at least 7 days before the visit and the cancelled meal is identified. The meal program is not recommended for students with allergies.

Duty of Care for Minors: Duty of care for minors is transferred between Mt Seymour instructors and the school group’s supervisors. Duty of care transfers from the supervisors to Mt Seymour instructors at the start of each organized lesson. At the end of the lesson, the duty of care is returned to the supervisors. During arrival, breaks, departure, and “extra time”, the duty of care remains with the supervisors. “Extra time” must be organized with Mt Seymour at the time of booking.
