Title: Ski Patrol
Department: Mountain Operations    
Reports to: Patrol Team Lead

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a ski patroller, you are responsible for providing high-quality First-Aid treatment to our guests and employees in their time of need. 

THIS POSITION IS RIGHT FOR YOU IF:

  • You pride yourself on helping others.
  • You can adapt to quickly evolving situations and keep a calm demeanor while doing so.
  • You can maintain clear, concise, and appropriate communication both written and verbal.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • You will keep a clean, organized, and safe workplace & you can recognize unsafe or hazardous work and reports it to a supervisor or manager.
  • You will be responsible for the implementation of the daily Mountain Risk Management plan.
  • You will be an active member of a team responsible for professional mountain rescue within the Controlled Recreation Area (CRA).
  • You will work alongside external agencies as an active team member, or as a team lead.
  • You will deliver high-quality first-aid treatment for Mt Seymour guests and employees, and ensure compliance with the Alpine Responsibility Code & Mt Seymour Terms and Conditions.

You must be physically able to: 

  • Ski/snowboard in all terrain & snow conditions.
  • Lift 50lbs.
  • Ski/snowboard while carrying 50lbs.
  • Sustain physical activity 10 hours per day.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment.

You must be psychologically able to: 

  • Work in a direct and structured environment.
  • Process traumatic & medical injuries of guests and colleagues.
  • Provide a supportive environment to colleagues, team members, and guests.
  • Always advocate on behalf of the patient.

WHAT WE REQUIRE FROM YOU:

  • Valid Occupational First Aid Level 3, or,
  • Non-urban Emergency Care Level 3, or,
  • Wilderness First Aid (accredited course) (80 hours), or greater.


ADDITIONAL ASSETS: 

  • AST-1 or AST-2
  • ICS-100

OTHER ATTRIBUTES:

  • Resilience.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

  • Seasonal position, November through to mid-April.
  • $20.50 - 22.88 per hour, depending on qualifications/experience.
  • Complimentary season pass and shuttle bus pass.
