Part Time Ski & Snowboard Instructors

Mt Seymour is looking for enthusiastic, friendly, and highly motivated instructors to join our team and share their passion for skiing and riding with our guests. 

Mt Seymour is located in North Vancouver, just 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver and is known as Vancouver's place to learn to ski and ride. Our Snow School provides a fun and inclusive atmosphere in which to work. Instructors are responsible for providing a great learning experience to our guests, a large proportion of whom are children. We are where Vancouver Families learn to ski & ride. We are seeking applicants who want to share their passion with our guests in a safe and engaging manner.

These are seasonal part-time positions. Part-Time staff are required to meet a minimum commitment throughout the season. Please see the additional information below. Our season is generally from December to Mid-April, with orientation training in late November or early December for new Part-Time staff. Shifts will be available for part-time staff between the start of Winter Break (December 20th 2025) and the 1st week of Spring Break (March 22nd 2026).

Reports To: Instructor Supervisors & Snow School Assistant Managers / Manager 

Summary of Responsibilities: 

You will teach our guests to ski and/or snowboard according to the Canadian Governing Bodies CSIA/PSIC/CASI standards, in a safe and fun environment. Instructors are expected to always behave in a professional manner as they are dressed in uniform and are role models for all guests and staff.
You are expected to be enthusiastic, encouraging, and engaging as an instructor. Finding the best way to teach and engage your guests and create a lifelong skier or rider by making the learning process fun. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Commitment to the Snow School Mission Statement and Core Values “Safety, Fun, and Learning".
  • Teach ski lessons according to the current CSIA/PSIC standards.
  • Responsible for the safety of each guest in the instructor’s care (Duty of Care).
  • Be knowledgeable of and teach the variety of lessons that Mt Seymour offers.
  • Providing support and leadership to visiting groups and schools in outdoor programs.
  • Assist with the organization of ski and snowboard lessons (aid time).
  • Be knowledgeable of and teach the Alpine Responsibility Code.
  • Record all class and student information accurately on flaik - our Snow School Management Software.
  • To be knowledgeable of current equipment, techniques, and teaching methodology by attending regular instructor training.
  • Motivate & encourage fellow instructors and provide feedback if required.
  • Be in constant communication with Supervisors and co-workers.
  • Other related duties as required (as related to other departments and aid time).

Job Requirements & Qualifications: 

  • CSIA/PSIC/CASI Level 1, 2, 3, 4 or equivalent certification.
  • Previous teaching experience & experience working with children are an advantage.
  • Enthusiasm to teach kids aged 4 - 15, who make up a high percentage of our lesson guests.
  • Excellent communication and guest services skills.
  • Personable and helpful attitude.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada (Citizen, Permanent Resident, Valid Working Holiday Visa).
  • Ability to ski or snowboard for 8–10 hours per day.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours per day
  • Advanced skiing or snowboarding ability.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Capable of assisting guests with physical support (lifting up to 50 lbs / 23 kg).
  • Ability to teach a group of up to 8-10 students.
  • Must be 16 years of age or older as of December 20, 2025.

Salary & Benefits: 

Mt Seymour is proud to be a Snow School industry leader by paying all instructors for the duration of their shifts, regardless of whether they teach a lesson, are performing other duties, or are on standby. This is an hourly role. Overtime may be required during busy periods. 

Part-Time rates:  

  • Level 1 - $18.00
  • Level 2 - $20 – 21.50 - depending on experience.
  • Level 3 - $26.00
  • Level 4 - $33.50
  • Premiums for dual certification additional $1 per hour.
  • Premiums for park ski certification additional $1.50 per hour.
  • Park snowboard certification additional $1 per hour.
  • Premium/commission rate for private request lessons.
  • Premiums are considered for 'other' additional certifications on a case-by-case basis.
  • Premiums for delivering lessons in certain languages other than English, those which we get the most requests for.
  • Complimentary season pass and shuttle bus pass provided. 

Part-Time Commitment Dates: 

All new Part-time Instructors must commit to a minimum of 13 shifts per season between December 20th, 2025, and March 22nd, 2026.

We will collect the days you are available in the fall via flaik - our Snow School Scheduling & Management Software in the fall before the start of the season.

Mt Seymour will be as flexible as possible with your availability; however, to meet the demands of our programming, we must ask this commitment from you. It can be put together in several ways, and our key times we need part-time staff are:

Key Holiday Dates – for those available during the peak holidays, which are Christmas / New Year. Please select the days you are available to work between December 20th, 2025 & January 4th, 2026.

We do sometimes require a limited number of part-time staff during the 1st week of  Spring Break (March 14th - 22nd), but to a much lower degree than winter break.

Key Weekend Dates– We prefer that you be available for our Multi-Week Programs. For 2025/26, you should be available for a complete camp on all Saturdays or Sundays (or both). And / Or Wednesday evenings from 5/5:15pm - 8:15pm. You can choose to change the days for Camp A / Camp B.  

Peak weekend dates are all Saturdays & Sundays from December 20th 2025 - March 8th 2026.

Weekdays - If you would rather work on weekdays during the day or in the evenings, we are flexible with the days you can work. We mainly require staff in the evenings.

During the day, we cater to many school groups from 10:00am to 2:45/3pm. A later school time slot runs from 4:30 - 6:30pm, straddling the weekday and evening time slots.

Evenings 

On both weekend & weekday evenings, we run lessons. We have Wednesday night camps, as detailed above, that run from 5/5:15pm. Additionally, there are evening private & group lessons which start around 6/6:30pm on weekdays and around 4:30/5pm on weekends. All evening lessons finish between 6:30 and 9pm. Part-time staff need to be available on the mountain for 4:30pm for weekend event lessons, 5pm for Wednesday Camps, or 6 pm for weekday daily lessons.

The minimum Commitment is 13 shifts throughout the season between December 20th 2025 & March 22nd 2026.
