Winter Snowshoe Guide

Winter 2025/26

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Mt Seymour Resort is seeking strong environmental role models to be Winter Snowshoe Guides for our winter tours. Mt Seymour’s Snowshoe Guides introduce guests to the wonders of the winter landscape while engaging them with interesting stories and adventures. Our tours provide nature education, wilderness survival skills, and personal growth. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Compliance with all Mt Seymour policies and procedures.
  • Sign and uphold Mt Seymour’s Confidentiality Agreement.   
  • Deliver safe and engaging tours.
  • Be responsible for the care, safety of, and injury prevention of guests.
  • Support inclusion, self-regulation, and friendship skills.
  • Maintain a positive tour guide environment.
  • Demonstrates group leadership skills in an outdoor setting.
  • Knowledge of wilderness skills, safety and etiquette.
  • Ability to follow direction and work unsupervised.   
  • Ability to handle potential stressful situations calmly and effectively.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal.
  • Maintain awareness of defective supplies or snowshoes and report to Manager.  
  • Provide all necessary clothing for protection against the natural elements and ability to work outside in a mountain environment for 8 hours.

     

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Completed or in progress of a degree or diploma in a field of study, such as: Education, Recreation, Biology, Environmental Sciences.
  • Strong communication skills and guest service skills.
  • Experience working with both adults and children.
  • Experience leading groups in an outdoor setting.
  • Knowledge of local First Nations history and culture.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR certification by your first start date of employment.
  • Familiarity with Mt Seymour snowshoe winter trails.
  • Knowledge of Mt Seymour flora and fauna.
  • Knowledge of wilderness travel and safety procedures.
  • Primitive survival skills and bushcraft knowledge. 

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Sustain physical activity for 8 working hours per day over variable terrain.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds for up to 8 working hours per day.
  • Ability to successfully navigate winter snowshoe trails.
  • Must be willing to complete a criminal record check.
