Sea to Sky Parks-Alice Lake Park Manager

Full time-year round

Sea to Sky Park Services Operates several Provincial Parks, Day Use Areas, and Campgrounds in the Sea to Sky Corridor. We are currently hiring for a F/T Year-Round Park Manager to join our team and manage our Alice Lake Provincial Park location, situated in Squamish.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Park Manager is a hands-on position responsible for the operation of the park. Duties include helping to oversee facility maintenance in accordance with the Quality Control Plan, public safety & park security, administration tasks, and the supervision of a team of park attendants and patrollers.

Key functions:

  • To follow Sea to Sky Park Services contractual duties outlined in the Park Use Permit.
  • Oversee facility maintenance in accordance with the quality control plan.
  • To work within a budget
  • Hire, train, and supervise a team of park staff.
  • Evaluate and set work priorities and schedules
  • Maintain a high level of communication with head office, the Area Manager, and other Park Managers.
  • Maintain a safe and positive work environment
  • Inspect all Park facilities weekly to ensure standards area being met
  • Update the reservation system and gatehouse procedures
  • To ensure the safe use of all required machinery and equipment

  • The identification of minor maintenance requirements for all equipment utilized such as lawn mowers, leaf blowers etc., and either conducting the maintenance or ensuring maintenance is carried out by contractors.
  • Accurate and detailed park record keeping regarding park usage and completed tasks
  • To help conduct a regular inventory of products used and to report shortages.
  • Order Park supplies as needed.
  • Ensure Park compliance and security by ensuring parkland areas are patrolled and ensuring that guests are abiding by the campground and park usage guidelines.
  • Other related duties as required.

Skills & Abilities

  • Completed or enrolled in an undergraduate degree or technical diploma in natural resource management, outdoor recreation, or a related field, or comparable years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role.
  • Previous experience in cash handling and working within a budget.
  • Knowledge of parks and/or grounds maintenance methods and equipment.
  • Previous experience working in an outdoor work environment.
  • Knowledge of/experience with compliance activities
  • Knowledge of BC Parks and related regulations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, team participation, and coordination skills
  • Ability to deal with emergency situations in a calm and effective manner.
  • Ability to operate and maintain a wide range of hand tools, power tools, vehicles, and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Ability to work independently in remote work locations
  • Resourceful and creative in the face of seemingly difficult situations
  • Ability to enforce Park rules and gain voluntary compliance in an effective manner.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs
  • Must be able to walk up to 5 kms per day
  • Bending, lifting, carrying of materials
  • Standing up to 8 or more hours per day
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers licence

Terms and Conditions

Wage-$25-$29/hour

Uniform Provided

Due to the location of Alice Lake Provincial Park, your own vehicle will be required to travel to and from the park to work.
