Kids Lessons Snow School Supervisor - Bears Den
Mt Seymour is looking for enthusiastic, friendly, and highly motivated supervisor to join our team and share their passion for skiing / riding with our staff and guests.
Mt Seymour is located in North Vancouver, just 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver and is known as Vancouver's place to learn to ski and ride. Our Snow School provides a fun and inclusive atmosphere in which to work. Instructors are responsible for providing a great learning experience to our guests, a large proportion of whom are children. The Bears Den plays a vital part in providing a great learning environment to thousands of young skiers and riders each year. We are looking for someone to oversee and organize this lesson program.
This is an extended-seasonal full-time position (35-40 hours per week), November - April. 4-6 days a week (extra work during peak operating periods).

Summary of Responsibilities:
Join our team as the Bears Den Supervisor at Mt Seymour's Snow School. The Bears Den is the home of Mt Seymour’s lessons for skiers & boarders ages 3-7. Reporting to the Snow School Multi-Day & Bearsden Product Manager, Snow School Assistant Managers & Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the Bears Den Supervisor is delivering exceptional lessons in the Bears Den area. You will collaborate closely with Snow School, and Guest Experience staff to ensure smooth operations and support our instructing team. You will be closely involved with kids and parents, so an enthusiasm for working with this age group is essential. This role may also involves teaching or assisting with lessons during busy periods or when the Bears Den is closed.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee the smooth operation of all lessons taking place in the Bears Den (Our kids' lessons building)
- Collaborate with other Snow School Supervisors, Scheduling & Admin Co-Ordinator, SS Manager, and Assistant Managers to track lesson bookings throughout the season.
- Adjust capacities to maximize lesson availability while ensuring appropriate staffing levels.
- Schedule instructor's lessons, working ahead of time and making changes as necessary.
- Communicate with Guest Experience to address guest requests and concerns.
- Organize and lead staff training sessions and provide ongoing coaching.
- Assist in setting up the Bears Den lesson areas and tear-down at the end of the day.
- Conduct morning meetings with instructors, ensuring they receive briefings before interacting with guests.
- Monitor attendance, communicate important information to staff, and ensure lessons start on time.
- Help reorganize classes with instructors and facilitate smooth transitions between class cards.
- Ensure end-of-lesson meeting places and times are communicated effectively.
- Assist groups in the Bears Den teaching areas and provide support to instructors and guests.
- Perform instructor observations, record observations, and provide feedback.
- Handle administrative duties, including scheduling and writing up observations.
- Monitor lesson progress, communicate with instructors, and address any guest issues.
- Maintain accurate records of student and instructor hours.
- Ensure guest safety and active participation in high-quality lessons.
- Teach a variety of lessons according to industry standards and promote the Alpine Responsibility Code.
- Assist in training, reviewing, and coaching staff members.
- Assist in disciplinary action and escalate issues to Assistant Managers & Manager.
Job Requirements & Qualifications:
- Interest in working with young children aged 3-7.
- Previous experience working with this age group is an advantage.
- CSIA/CASI Level 1 Ski/Snowboard Instructor or higher (or foreign equivalent). Dual certification is an asset.
- Minimum one season of instructing experience.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Computer literacy and willingness to learn new software.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Strong team player with the ability to keep instructors and students focused.
- Excellent understanding of customer service.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Own transport is an asset.
Terms of Employment:
- Hourly wage based on qualifications and experience.
- Full-time position for the season, requiring 5 days per week, including weekends and some evenings.
- Seasonal employment from mid-late November to mid-April.
- Complimentary season pass and shuttle bus pass provided.
- Additional hourly premiums for supervisory roles and specific certifications.
- Full-Time Employee Bonus Scheme based on attendance and performance.
- Hourly wage - dependent on qualifications and experience. Starting from:
- Level 1 - $19.00
- Level 2 - $21.25
- Level 3 - $26.00
- Level 4 - $33.50
+ Additional hourly premium for the supervisory role.
Note: This position is seasonal, running from mid-late November to mid-April. Weekends and afternoon/evening availability are required for multi-day lessons. Some overtime may be necessary during peak periods. Assistance with other programs is expected outside of Bears Den lessons.
