Electrical Manager

Full time-year round

Title: Electrical Manager

Department: Maintenance
Reports to: Maintenance Manager/Director of Operations

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

As the Electrical Manager, you are responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all Mt Seymour electrical systems, including ski lifts and mountain infrastructure. You will lead and support a team of electricians and apprentices, oversee maintenance programs, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.

This is a highly hands-on leadership role that requires active participation in daily maintenance and operational activities alongside the electrical team. The successful candidate must be comfortable working outdoors year-round in challenging mountain weather conditions, climbing lift towers, travelling by snowmobile, and responding directly to operational and emergency maintenance needs across the resort.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership & Team Oversight

  • Supervise, mentor, and support a team of electricians and apprentices
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign daily and seasonal workloads
  • Support hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across the department

Electrical Operations & Maintenance

  • Oversee all electrical maintenance and repair activities across Mt Seymour systems, including ski lifts
  • Ensure reliability and keep all electrical systems running smoothly
  • Develop, implement, and manage preventative maintenance programs
  • Provide hands-on support troubleshooting complex electrical and control system issues

Projects & Infrastructure

  • Lead electrical projects including system upgrades, installations, and capital improvements
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and regulatory bodies
  • Assist in long-term planning, budgeting, and lifecycle management of electrical assets
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and cost control

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all work complies with the Canadian Electrical Code and applicable regulations
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and system performance
  • Ensure compliance with safety programs including confined space, and working at heights
  • Oversee documentation, permits, and inspection requirements

Operational Support

  • Support shipping/receiving of electrical materials and inventory management
  • Ensure high-quality workmanship while maintaining cost-effectiveness
  • Participate directly in field maintenance, troubleshooting, lift repairs, and operational response work as required
  • Provide reporting on system status, risks, and maintenance activities

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Interprovincial Red Seal Electrician (Industrial or Construction)
  • Class B FSR certification (or willingness to obtain, supported by employer)
  • 5+ years of experience as a ticketed electrician, preferably in an industrial or resort environment
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience is strongly preferred
  • Ski lift experience and working with passenger ropeways (e.g. Doppelmayr systems) is a strong asset
  • Experience operating a snowmobile in a ski resort setting
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with motor controls, PLCs, and AC/DC drives
  • Experience with high voltage systems and protection devices

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code
  • Valid WHMIS certificate
  • Valid Confined Space Entry certification
  • Comfortable working at heights (50+ foot towers)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Physically capable of performing demanding outdoor work in alpine and winter conditions
  • Comfortable travelling and working in mountainous terrain using snowmobiles and other resort equipment
  • Ability to actively participate in field repairs, troubleshooting, and emergency response work alongside the electrical team

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Full-time, year-round position
  • Salary range: $44-$58 (based on experience)
