Title: Base Radio Operator
Department: Mountain Operations
Reports to:  Mountain Communications & Facilities Manager

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Base Radio Operator is a hands-on position that is responsible for coordinating all mountain communications & activities including shuttle bus operations. Based in the Operations Administration hub, this position works with all departments at the mountain and outside agencies to ensure the smooth running of the resort daily.

Responsibilities:

  • To ensure Base radios & phones are always monitored.
  • To prioritize all communications, ensuring a timely response and accurate relay of information.
  • Perform data entry to record all communications, ensuring accurate documentation for all incidents.
  • Record, update and ensure accuracy of information for website, staff briefings and statistical data trackers.
  • Learn key operational information to a high level of understanding to reason and react quickly to developing situations.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are always followed.
  • Provide administrative support within the Operations Department.
  • Identify and complete work projects, prioritizing level of importance.
  • Maintain a high level of cooperation and enthusiasm in the department.
  • Other related duties as required for the success of the mountain operation.
  • Report and rectify unsafe acts, conditions, or procedures.

WHAT WE REQUIRE FROM YOU:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • High level of computer proficiency including working experience with Microsoft 365. 
  • Minimum typing speed of 40WPM.
  • Ability to enter data quickly and accurately whilst managing other concerns.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with staff and supervisory personnel.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to focus on a busy work environment.
  • Ability to maintain composure and stay organized when under pressure. 
  • Ability to reason and react with quick and thoughtful judgment.

    ASSETS:

  • Radio communication experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ski resort operations and local terrain.
  • Skiing or snowboarding experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Automate or Power Apps.
  • Strong memory retention and recall skills.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Seasonal position, commencing November through to mid-April.
  • Hourly wage starting at $19.25-$23 per hour. (based on experience and qualifications)
