Rentals and Retail Assistant Manager

Winter 2026/27

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Rentals and Retail Manager this is a full-time seasonal-position with the option of becoming year round.    During the season this role supports the Rental and Retail manager by assisting with the overall operation of all rental and retail operations at Mt Seymour.   

 

This is a management role responsible for assisting with the planning, set up, operating, reporting, and seasonal ramp down of the Rentals & Retail Department during the winter and summer operational period.  

Your main focus is working with the team to keep the rentals organized, clean and running smoothly.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the overall management of the Rentals and Retail department. 
  • Work with the Rentals and Retail Manager on all planning, pre-season set up and post season ramp down. 
  • Assist with budgeting and planning 
  • Assist with planning and executing all retail purchases. 
  • Study market research and trends to determine consumer demand, potential sales volumes and effect of competitors' operations on sales 
  • Evaluate and improve customer service and respond to customer requests and issues 
  • Help prepare and deliver pre-season and ongoing training including technician training and continually review & update next years training manual and materials to ensure high standards of staff performance. 
  • Assist with hiring and onboarding a team of 60-70 rental and retail staff.  
  • Working with Guest Services and IT departments to improve how guest facing POS and technology works within the department. 
  • Keeping track of inventory in the rentals and retail areas. 
  • Ensure maintenance of all equipment in the Rentals and Retail department 
  • Ensure daily communication with department supervisors to support efficient operations. 
  • Handling and overseeing cash transactions within the department. 
  • Supervise, lead and coach all staff members in their effort to follow their personal strategic map. 
  • Daily organization of the Service Shop and the Rental & Retail Department. Be on call to solve minor problems over the phone as needed. 
  • Oversee scheduling and payroll activities. 
  • Ensuring the retail location in the summer months is managed accordingly. 
  • Work with Safety Manager to ensure appropriate safety standards are being met and communicated. 
  • Other related duties, as required 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completed post secondary education in a related field 
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a high-volume resort/ recreational environment. 
  • Several years of related retail or wholesale sales experience at increasing levels of responsibility. 
  • Technical knowledge of the Ski & Snowboard Industry an asset. 
  • Experience of at least 2 years in a ski rental, operation an asset.
  • Technical certification on Head- Tyrolia, Marker, Salomon, Rossignol (or willing to obtain)
  • Previous supervisory experience of at least 4 years in a recreational setting with experience working with a seasonal workforce. 
  • Advanced level of MS Word and Excel. 
  • Occupational first aid qualification & experience providing first aide (or willing to obtain) 
  • Drivers license. 

WHAT WE REQUIRE FROM YOU:

  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and guest services skills.
  • Must be available to work later hours as required by business needs.
  • Personal transportation, to work outside of shuttle bus schedules.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

  • Wage $29 per hour 
  • 3 weeks of annual vacation
