Winter Parking Designations

Map of winter parking designations at Mt Seymour

Mt Seymour Resorts Ltd. operates a Controlled Recreation Area (CRA) comprising of the ski area and parking lots. The CRA occupies 81 of 3,500 hectares (approximately 2%) of park land.

Mt Seymour has experienced a massive growth in snowshoers enjoying the trails to Dog Mountain, First Pump Peak and Mount Seymour Peak, and we are working hard with BC Parks to find solutions to the resulting parking shortage for these provincial park users. The snowshoe/backcountry parking plan will be implemented throughout the winter operating season. With peak periods being December 26 - January 5 and weekends in January and February.

Parking Designations

Downhill Skiers and Snowboarders
P2, P3, P4, Upper P5
Valid area pass for skiing or snowboarding required.

Snowplay Visitors
P2, Lower P5
Valid area pass for tubing or tobogganing required.

Snowshoe and Backcountry Visitors
Lower P5 & P1 with overnight parking permitted in P1.

To assist BC Parks and their visitors, Mt. Seymour Resorts has created and maintains a groomed pathway on the west side of the road from Parking Lot 1 to the First Lake/Dog Mountain trailhead. This wide pathway allows backcountry users to safely access the backcountry trails.

On occasion when the parking lots are nearing capacity, Mt Seymour will set up a traffic stop starting at the 3.5 km mark on the road. The stop is usually short with vehicles being released at regular intervals. The stop is implemented to ease congestion within the parking lots and to efficiently manage the flow of traffic in and out of the Park.

Mt. Seymour Resorts also offers a shuttle bus service from Rupert Skytrain Station in East Vancouver and Parkgate Community Centre at the bottom of the mountain. The shuttle bus is a great way to avoid parking congestion during peak periods.
