North Vancouver, B.C. - Mt Seymour's weekly fundraiser 'Shred for the Cause', has raised a record $26,000 for the local charity, The Bloom Group. Vancouver's largest ski and snowboard charity fundraiser saw a total of 4,300 female ski and snowboard guests take part in the  Monday evening event during the 2016/2017 ski season.

'Shred for the Cause' offered women and girls evening skiing and snowboarding for $10, $5 of which was donated to the charity. Many women decided to donated more than the asked ticket prize. The fundraiser evening prizes were sponsored by the partners Helly Hansen, Rip Curl, Sandbox, ThirtyTwo, Instance, Pacific Boarder, Dakine and Dragon.

This year's beneficiaries, for the second year, were Powell Place and Springhouse, operated by The Bloom Group, offering women facing homelessness, mental illness and addiction, a safe refuge. This local charity has been providing some of the most progressive social services in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside for over 50 years, including low-barrier shelters for women and children.

Eddie Wood, General Manager of Mt Seymour Resort, commented: "We are incredibly grateful to the guests of Mt Seymour that were so generous, often donating more than the asked ticket prize. It helped us raise a substantial amount of money. Thank you so much for the continued community support!"

"We were excited to partner with Mt Seymour again as the cause for this year's event and appreciate their continued support of the women and families at our two shelters," said Trudi Shymka, Director of Women and Children Services with The Bloom Group. "These donations will fund life-enhancing services like our Indigenous Healing and Wellness Circle and our Child & Youth program at Springhouse. Our sincerest thanks to Mt Seymour and your Monday night guests!"
