Food & Beverage Manager

We are currently hiring for a full-time Food & Beverage Manager to join our team. This is a seasonal position running from September until the end April with the potential to become year round as our Food & Beverage Operations expand.

We are seeking a well-organized team orientated person with strong hands on skills to run the department. Must be capable of hiring, training and motivating a team of 40-50 seasonal employees. Would ideally suit someone with a culinary or kitchen background and good all round food and beverage knowledge. Reporting to the General Manager / Operations  Manager, the Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for overseeing and developing all Food & Beverage operations on Mt Seymour including The Rockchute bar and restaurant, Grillwork’s Casual Dining Restaurant, Catering and outdoor food venues.

Must have an interest in the winter recreation industry.                       

Responsibilities:

  • To uphold Mount Seymour’s mandate.
  • To ensure that a high quality of food and guest service is provided to Mount Seymour Food and Beverage patrons.
  • To create fresh and innovative menus in The Rockchute and Grillwork’s which appeal to the public and are cost effective.
  • To establish and maintain high quality food and beverage products, ensuring good presentation at all times.
  • Maintain appropriate food and beverage inventory levels, via timely purchasing, effective storage and stock rotation and by conducting regular food & beverage inventories.
  • To explore and develop new growth opportunities for the Food & Beverage department.
  • To create and promote daily and weekly specials.
  • Develop and adhere to the annual food and beverage operating budget.
  • To track and maintain all product and Labour costs.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining all revenue and cash controls for the Food & Beverage Department.
  • With the assistance of the Food & Beverage Supervisors will hire, train and evaluate work performance of approximately forty - fifty Food & Beverage staff.
  • To ensure that all food and beverage policies, procedures and functions are performed in adherence to all Food Safe and WCB regulations.
  • To ensure the adherence of B.C. liquor and health regulations.
  • To monitor and control waste, spoilage and spillage.
  • Other related duties as required.

Qualifications:                     

  • Food and Beverage/Hospitality Management, or Business Management Diploma, combined with a minimum of 3-5 years high volume Food & Beverage management experience.
  • Strong culinary knowledge/skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish good working relationships with staff and guests.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to provide timely, high quality service and to maximize food and beverage revenue throughout the year.
  • Previous budgeting experience with a high aptitude for financial management.
  • The ability to work well under pressure in a high volume environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and professional manner.
  • Flexible and creative approach to problem solving
  • Previous supervisory experience, including the ability to manage, encourage and motivate staff.
  • “Serving It Right” certificate
  • Ability to be a supportive team member.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Word and Excel required.
  • Driver’s license and own vehicle
  • Able to work flexible shifts which will include evenings and weekends during the winter operating period.

Terms of Employment:

  • Salaried management position
  • Medical, dental and extended health benefits after 3 month qualifying period, company covers 50% of premiums
  • Family seasons pass
  • September until the end of April – 7 month contract
  • Prefer someone who can commit to at least 3 seasons.
